Data privacy, also called information privacy, is the aspect of information technology (IT) that deals with the ability an organization or individual has to determine what data in a computer system can be shared with third parties.
Ohh k..But how do these companies get information about us?
And what do they do with it?
Every time you sign up for a service such as bank accounts, medical service, accounts in various websites(more importantly social media), you provide some personal information such as location, contacts, also your likes and habits.
These information, reveal your identity and without your concern the companies sell these data to third party websites - such as ad agencies.Here the data privacy of the user is at stake

The Privacy is an international campaign that aims in promoting safer web for people.It all started with Data privacy day which began in the United States and Canada in January 2008 as an extension of the Data Protection Day celebration in Europe. Data Protection Day commemorates the Jan. 28, 1981, signing of Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection. Data Privacy Day is now a celebration for everyone, observed annually on Jan. 28
While people are celebrating the New year, many web lovers and passionates, some companies and organizations like Mozilla, from all over the world strive hard to bring awareness about data privacy and online privacy tips
They share tips, articles, via social media to educate the people. Most of these tips are simple , It may take only few minutes to implement it.
